Liquid Scintillation Counting (LSC)

With the importance of “pure” beta radionuclides such as tritium, carbon-14, iron-55 (EC), nickel-63, strontium-90, technetium-99 and plutonium-241 to the nuclear industry, IRAS Active Analytics has developed a strong capability for the radiochemical separation and assay of these radionuclides by liquid scintillation counting.

Using a Raddec Pyrolysis system to convert sample tritium and carbon-14, and both ion exchange and ion selective radiochemical separation techniques for the remainder, IRAS Active Analytics operate two cooled Packard 2900TR liquid scintillation counters.
