IRAS Active Analytics use a Thermo iCAP Q quadrupole mass spectrometer primarily for inorganic determinands often required by customers in addition to radioactive determinands. Also used to support our radiochemistry with yield determinations for Fe-55, Ni-63, Sr-90 and Tc-99, the instrument is used directly to determine isotopic ratios of uranium and plutonium.
The iCAP Q was designed with ease of use, productivity, and sensitivity in mind. In particular, the adjustable sensitivity / matrix tolerance made it the system of choice for IRAS Active Analytics.
